TAAFI Animation Challenge 2014

During the month of May I got the opportunity to join together with 4 other talented artists from my course at Seneca College to create a 20 second animation for the annual Taafi animation challenge, and BOY was it ever a challenge.

I got to write and direct the mini film, and I had an ambitious vision right from the start. Since I had a background in compositing I wanted to really make it stand out and include all kinds of lighting, and 3D depth to the 2D layers, and focal shifts. It was a tall order. and of course Murphy’s Law reared it’s ugly head a few times throughout the production, but by JOVE we pulled it off. You can view the full 20 second short here: SENECA CHALLENGE 2014
I also did the story boarding, audio, editing, voiced the Jock and the Bartender,  compositing, animated six shots, and helped with character design. I was completely exhausted by the end, especially since we were late starting the animation portion but I had SO much fun working on it and with my team.
Here are the shots that I animated:

Shot 006
Shot 008
Shot 009
Shot 011
Shot 012
All in all it was a really fun project. I had a really great team and I’m very happy with how it turned out.
Hopefully I’ll have more fun stuff to post soon.
