Required supplies:
- A pack of 8.5x11 printing paper (for small animations that don't require the drawing space of 12-field animation paper)
- 12-field animation paper
- A ruler (12" corkback is recommended)
- Newsprint (you'll go through many newsprint pads. Tip: you can buy a full box of ~40 newsprint pads at most art stores - this is usually cheaper than buying pads individually)
- Conte (buy lots)
- Pencils, of course (all kinds)
- Coloured pencils (col erase or other stuff)
- An eraser or two (pink or white)
- Sticky notes (3” x 5” standard pale canary yellow is recommended)
- A notebook or something to take notes and jot down assignments
- Sketchbooks (one (or two) for life drawing/character design, others for notes and thumbnails for the other classes)
- Animation disc (some upper year students may be selling their old discs - ask around!)
- Money for fees and deposits (life drawing fee, desk deposit, AAC access card deposit)
Optional:
- Mirror (for facial expressions, hand and other body part references, and narcissistic tendencies)
- 10"+ Right angle triangle (helps with layout)
- Scissors
- Other fun drawing tools like pens and markers
- Kneaded eraser
- Sandpaper and/or xacto knife
- Pastels
- 12-field field guide (helps with layout)
- Lamp (brightens your work space)
- Masking/painters tape
- Agenda, whiteboard or calendar (any kind of time management system to help yourself keep track of work)
- Paper clips, other kinds of clips
- Sharpener (there're electric ones in the hall, but get a good one for yourself)
- Light box (if you're thinking of doing some animation work at home)
- Tissue box (if you or your friends get sick)
- Wet wipes (to clean your conte-tainted hands)
- Decor (art books, figurines, pictures, drawings, posters, prints, mugs, cool push pins, memorabilia, mini waste bin)
